How to read the Monster Hunter Outlanders weakness chart
Every monster in Monster Hunter Outlanders has an entry in the in-game Hunter's Notes that rates each element from zero to three diamonds. The chart ticks the element with three diamonds. When no element reaches three, we show the two-diamond elements with a small 2 so you still know what to bring. We only mark a value as confirmed when two independent guides that read the live Japan client report the same rating.
Radiant monsters in Monster Hunter Outlanders are not reskins, and their weaknesses often differ. Radiant Rathian is weakest to thunder while the base Rathian is weakest to dragon, Radiant Great Girros switches from water to dragon, and Radiant Legiana switches from thunder to fire. Several Radiant forms only appear in den hunts. That is why the chart lists each Radiant form as its own row instead of copying the base monster.
Three quick Monster Hunter Outlanders weakness rules
- Check the Radiant row as well as the base row: a Radiant form can flip its top weakness.
- One weapon of each element covers almost every Monster Hunter Outlanders hunt; fire, water and thunder cover the most rows.
- Ice is rare among launch Adventurers, so keep Rhodes for the ice weakness of Diablos and Odogaron.
Element weakness versus tier
Hitting a weakness matters more than rank in Monster Hunter Outlanders. A squad whose Adventurers all deal the right element will clear a hunt faster than a squad of S-tier Adventurers with the wrong one. If you are short on a key element, check the Adventurer tier list for free options: Luka (thunder), Madelyn (water), Pyro (dragon) and Luxheart (thunder) cost nothing.
Weak parts and blunt damage in Monster Hunter Outlanders
The "Hit here" column names the part that takes the most damage. Parts marked blunt are worth aiming at with the Hammer because blunt damage to the head also builds stun. Everything else takes full damage from cutting weapons and shots. Breaking parts drops extra materials, which you can track on the materials map.
Status ailment weaknesses
The status column lists ailments that one guide reports as effective in Monster Hunter Outlanders. Great Jagras is weak to every status, which makes it a good place to test a poison or sleep build. Elder Dragons resist most ailments, so bring raw damage instead.
Monster Hunter Outlanders weaknesses not published yet

We fill them in as soon as two sources agree, and the date at the top of this page tells you when we last checked.
